An Angus baby is making a fighting recovery after being born with chronic lung disease and epilepsy.

Kane Bradley weighed 1lb 9oz when he was delivered four months premature in August.

Parents Emma and Colin, from Montrose, were told to expect the worst and he came close to death three times.

The eight-month-old is hooked up to oxygen, needs seven medications a day, struggles with epilepsy, had eye surgery, and had a hernia removed.

Emma, 36, said: “The chance of him surviving without steroids was low and he was put on a ventilator.

“He was having up to five seizures a day before he was diagnosed with epilepsy and was given medication.

“He nearly died three times.”

Kane’s parents are hopeful he will soon be able to breathe on his own, and they were allowed home in January.

Emma added: “He’s been doing really well since we got him home he laughs, smiles and makes noises.”

The family have donated hats and blankets to Ninewells Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit to show their appreciation.
