Could there be a new contender for the Christmas number one, with the internet release of Arbroath Does Band Aid?
Produced and starring the staff of Thomas Cook’s Arbroath branch, the video also features customers and retail neighbours from the town’s High Street. There are even guest appearances from Superman, Bono and The Queen (well kind of).
Launched late last night the video had already racked up around 6,000 views by 9.30 this morning and is proving an internet sensation.Post by Thomas Cook Angus Coast. The video’s very own Superman is, in fact, hero delivery driver Brian Provan, who rescued a woman from a fire in the town earlier this year. The Parcelforce driver kicked down the door of a flat to save a one-legged woman from the smoke-logged property.
During filming on Wednesday, Brian had been making a delivery to WH Smith and clearly jumped at the chance to join in the fun, as he tears open his shirt to reveal a resplendent ‘S’ tattooed on his chest.Post by Thomas Cook Angus Coast.Thomas Cook area manager Stuart Betty said he and the staff came up with the idea on the spur of the moment and were delighted with the reaction they got from everyone who took part.
He said: “We wanted to get the High Street involved. If I’d known it was going to go crazy, I would have done a more professional job!”
“The response was so positive. I think because people tend to be up for a bit of fun at this time of year. There can be a bit of doom and gloom about the High Street at times, but It was a good laugh to get the shops around us involved and our customers were delighted to put their bit in to it.”
While the video has already been widely shared, Thomas Cook Arbroath presents can be viewed at Thomas Cook Angus Coast or Arbroath Online Facebook pages.
