A Dundee man planning to circumnavigate the globe in just 80 hours is making his final preparations ahead of the adventure.

Cory Campbell sets off from Discovery Point in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for a city Scout troop.

Last year the 44-year-old father circled the roof of the CN Tower in Canada to drum up funds for the 26th Scout group and this year he wants to raise even more.

Cory has secured sponsored flights from DP&L Travel and flies from Edinburgh to London, then on to Dubai, then Sydney and Los Angeles.

He will only stop for his first rest in LA, where the Beverly Hills Hilton have agreed to pick him up from the airport and let him lie down for a while.

But the stunt is not just about raising money for the Scouts. Cory’s daughter Catherine (13) was watching a programme on anti-slavery and contacted the charity Free the Girls to see how they could help.

Since then the family and various local organisations have collected more than 600 bras which Cory will personally deliver to the charity’s co-founder in LA.

And he will not be alone on his sojourn as he is taking a variety of mascots including DC Thomson’s Dennis and Gnasher. Cory hopes to make it back to London in 59 hours and 58 minutes the current world record.
