Daily television coverage of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will be shown on a giant screen in City Square, Dundee City Council has announced.
The 27 sq m screen will ensure that shoppers and visitors do not have to miss out on watching the hoped-for success of home competitors even when they are out and about.
The equipment will also be used to showcase the work of filmmakers, animators and artists.
Lord Provost Bob Duncan said: “Dundee City Council and its partners have put on an exciting programme of activities for all the family during the games, with the Screen in the Square there for people to watch the action from Glasgow.
“The city will play its part in the Commonwealth Games by hosting competitors from the shooting competitions at Barry Buddon.”
Public events are being organised for every day of the competition, including a picnic, open-air sports, dance theatre, bands and a ceilidh. The Screen in the Square will operate from July 23 until August 3.
