A man’s body has been found in the River Tay at Broughty Ferry.
The body was spotted floating in the water between the castle and lifeboat station by a man out running around 8am.
Members of the lifeboat crew launched the inshore boat and recovered the body, which is believed to have been in the water for some time.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: The body of a man has been recovered from the River Tay, a short distance from the shoreline between Broughty Castle and the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat Station this morning.
“A member of the public spotted the body in the water at about 8am this morning and alerted the police.
“The local lifeboat was launched and the body recovered.
“Police enquiries are now underway in an effort to confirm the identity of the deceased. This will include liaison with police colleagues out with Tayside in relation to any missing persons.”
