A Dundee man battered his boyfriend by stamping on his head in a “lovers’ tiff that got out of hand”, a court has heard.

Graham Dixon launched the sustained attack on his victim, hitting him with a television and lifting him up by his throat as the man frantically tried to escape.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard the man told Dixon he did not want him to spend the night, which made the accused angry.

Depute fiscal Kirsten Thomson said: “The accused punched the complainer on the right side of the face.”

Ms Thomson said that Dixon began to repeatedly punch the man to both sides of his face and head until he fell to the floor.

The complainer curled into a ball and Dixon began kicking him repeatedly on the head, before picking up a 40in television and throwing it on the floor, striking the man.

The complainer tried to run to the front door, but Dixon chased and grabbed him by the back of his shirt, ripping it.

After getting out of the flat the man managed to shout for help.

Ms Thomson said: “The accused began to repeatedly kick him on the head and thereafter stamped on his head.

“The complainer was crying and screaming for help.

“The accused then reached down and grabbed him by the throat and he was pinned against the wall.”

The complainer ran into the street and asked a taxi driver to take him to police headquarters.

Dixon, 29, of Burn Street, admitted assaulting the man to his injury at Nethergate on May 25 2013.

Sentence was deferred until March 24 and Dixon was remanded in custody.
