Dundee East MSP Shona Robison has demanded a meeting with the Care Inspectorate for Scotland over its report on the complaints by residents against staff at Rosendael Veterans’ Residence in Broughty Ferry.
Inspectors found staff had opened residents’ mail and accessed their personal data on computers used by another organisation.
The inspectors upheld three claims, two of them fully, but have not released publicly what those specific complaints involve.
However, The Courier was given access to the findings and it was confirmed that staff had admitted opening and withholding letters from the benefits agency and accessing the computer records.
Following our story, Ms Robison said she was concerned the inspectorate hasn’t yet specified publicly what the complaints were.
She said: ”These are extremely disturbing allegations. I am glad that the Care Inspectorate for Scotland has conducted a thorough investigation of them and followed up with an unannounced visit to Rosendael.
”I note with concern that the Care Inspectorate have upheld one of the complaints fully and partially upheld the other two complaints but that they have not yet specified which complaints these are.
”So I have made contact with the Care Inspectorate to arrange a meeting to discuss this with them.”
