“Fantastic! Brilliant! Amazing!”
Those were just some of the words used by lucky schoolkids this morning to describe Dundee’s new Olympia leisure pool.
The children, from Craigowl, Dens Road and Kingspark primaries were VIPs for the day as the new pool was unveiled to invited guests and dignitaries for the first time.

The Craigowl pupils won a city-wide competition to design a mosaic for the interior of the building, while the other two schools were runners-up.

And the first person down the new flumes was Courier Money Can’t Buy competition winner Jill Whelan from Newport, who overcame her nerves to shoot down the red flume.
Jill, 44, who was with her children Nicholas, 11, and Millie, 8, and a group of friends, said: “I didn’t want to do it, I thought it was the kids who were supposed to go down!

“I went down the red one, which is the easiest, but I’ll not be doing it again, it’s scary. But it’s great, the kids have been really excited and now they’re having great fun.”
The pool opens to the general public on June 27.
