A male cyclist has been killed in an accident on a busy Fife road.
The accident happened on the A91 between Strathmiglo and Gateside at around 11.20am on Thursday.
A Vauxhall Corsa travelling west is believed to have collided with the cyclist, who was also travelling west.
Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after the incident but the man, believed to be in his 50s, had sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We arrived there around 11.25pm and police were there too as were two off-duty firefighters who unsuccessfully administered CPR to the patient.’’
The road was closed for several hours while police carried out investigations into the accident.
Inspector Brenda Sinclair appealed for witnesses to come forward.
“This collision has tragically resulted in the cyclist losing his life, and we are keen to hear from other motorists who may be able to assist us in establishing exactly what happened.
“Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact police immediately by calling 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
