Fife pupils urged not to walk home alone after attempted abduction
ByCharlene Wilson
Pupils at Fife schools are being urged not to walk home alone following attempts to abduct a pupil.
A manhunt is underway after a girl was targeted just moments after getting off a school bus in Leuchars.
The 13 year-old Madras College pupil escaped unharmed but the incident has prompted schools across the region to issue warnings to both youngsters and their families.
Parents of pupils at the St Andrews secondary school have been alerted to what the headteacher called a “very serious incident” between 4pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday afternoon.
“After being dropped off by the school bus an attempt was made to force a pupil into a car,” he explained in a communication to parents.
The police have stressed that officers are in “regular contact” with local schools.
