Forth Road Bridge closure: Main Kincardine diversion route reopened after accident
ByJonathan Watson
The main diversionary route between Fife and Edinburgh was closed this morning due to an accident.
The A985 between Kincardine and Cairneyhill was closed from 7am until around 11.50am after a Vauxhall Astra travelling eastbound was involved in a collision with a Peugeot Boxer van coming the other way near Valleyfield.
The Scottish Ambulance Service treated a 56-year-old man at the scene, and a 25-year-old man was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital with serious injuries.
Traffic was diverted in both directions via the A977 while the road was closed.
Temporary Road Policing Inspector Andrew Thomson said: “I want to thank road users for their patience while we conducted our enquiries and worked to reopen the road.
“Our enquiries continue and anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The route is the main diversion following last week’s closure of the Forth Road Bridge.
