Man suffers serious injuries in accident near Glenrothes

A man was seriously injured in a car accident in Fife on Sunday night.
The accident happened as the man and his female passenger were travelling south on the A92 near Glenrothes on the New Inn to Balfarg stretch, at around 9.40pm.
The car, a Mini Cooper, left the road and ended up in a field, having collided with a road sign.
Fire crews had to free the injured man, who is 27, from his car. He was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy where his injuries were described as serious but not life threatening.
His passenger escaped with only minor injuries.
The road was closed for some time because of the accident.
Traffic built up this morning on the Pitreavie junction at the M90 because of a one-car accident.
The car, a black Honda Civic, ended up on the hard shoulder but debris from the accident was scattered across the carriageway.
The male driver, 30, was checked over by ambulance staff at the scene but did not need hospital treatment.
