Police Scotland has launched a video appeal to trace Glenrothes man Allan Bryant, a year to the day since he went missing.
Twenty-four-year-old Allan Bryant was last seen outside Styx nightclub on Caskieberran Road in the town at around 2am on Sunday November 3 2013. He had been drinking in the club and was captured on CCTV inside and outside the premises.
These images, which were released earlier this year, have now been enhanced to give a clearer view of Allan, which officers hope will jog people’s memories and generate new lines of inquiry.
The video is posted on YouTube and is being shared on the Police Scotland’s social media sites.
The CCTV footage is complimented by photos of Allan which his family have given to police for use in the video, including one of him in the shirt he was wearing when he was last seen.
Chief Inspector Nicola Shepherd said: “Our investigation into Allan’s disappearance has been detailed and thorough, and is ongoing. For the past 12 months officers have been working tirelessly to find Allan, spending many thousands of hours following up dozens of lines of inquiry. Despite this and widespread publicity, we have no more confirmed sightings of Allan after he left Styx.
“This makes the CCTV crucial and we have chosen to focus on it again a year on. Allan is clearly shown in the footage wearing a distinctive striped shirt in the foyer of the club and outside on the steps. We have also included in the video a photo of Allan wearing the same shirt. These are the best images for people to view online to help them think back to Sunday 3 November last year to remember if they saw him. The community has been extremely supportive of the search for Allan and we continue to call on them now.
“We also want people to share our video on social media to raise as much awareness as possible of Allan’s case, and then contact police on 101 or through our website if they have any information which may assist, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”
The investigation to find Allan Bryant is one of the largest since Police Scotland was formed in April 2013.
Ch Insp Shepherd added: “Experts from across the force have been involved over the past year, carrying out meticulous searches and comprehensively examining every piece of information we have received. Our support to Allan’s family continues alongside our efforts to reunite them with their son and brother, and our thoughts are with them on this difficult day.”
Allan is described as being 5ft 6ins tall, of medium build with short brown hair and blue eyes and has tattoos on both arms. He was dressed in a navy, white and grey striped t-shirt, black or dark denim jeans and grey leather plimsoles.
Anyone with any information on Allan and his whereabouts should contact Police Scotland on 101.
On Sunday night Allan’s family held a vigil outside Styx nightclub in Glenrorthes.
Around 200 people lit candles and sparklers. Allan Bryant Snr spoke of the “living hell” his family had experienced since Allan went missing.
