Fife Council has been accused of using Fife Cultural Trust as a “front” in the row over library closures.
Controversial plans by the trust to close 16 libraries, with the loss of 25 jobs, have been put on ice while a consultation progresses.
But a member of the Scottish Youth Parliament has hit out at the local authority’s lack of transparency over what he called the “lifeline” libraries afford the most vulnerable in society.
Backing a campaign to save the libraries, Lewis Akers said: “The consultation from the start has been flawed.”
However, Lewis has now been asked by the cultural trust to discuss the proposals in more detail.
And Fife Council has said it was committed to helping people become fully involved in the consultation process.
