New Glenrothes swimming pool getting ready to make a splash
ByThe Courier Reporter
Residents of Glenrothes will be able to make a splash later this month as the town’s new swimming pool and leisure centre opens.
The £21 million Michael Woods Centre will open its doors to the public on July 22, just over a year after the old Fife Institute shut.
The opening is three months behind schedule, with the first week being a “soft opening” before a full programme of events begins a week later.
Ed Watson, chief executive of Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “Staff are hard at work getting the centre ready.
“We are confident that the local community will be very impressed not just with the facilities, but also the quality and selection of equipment, sports and physical activity opportunities.”
The new centre features three pools, an 80 station gym and competition standard sports hall.
