Police are becoming increasingly concerned for the wellbeing of 23-year-old Glenrothes man Allan Bryant.
The last positive sighting of Allan was around 2am on Sunday outside Styx nightclub on Caskieberran Road.
However, messages have been posted online reporting possible sightings and police say they need to speak to the people behind these to find out more.
Inspector Derek Paxton, who is leading the search, said: “We are concerned for Allan’s wellbeing. He was last seen and spoken to outside Styx nightclub in Glenrothes at 2am on Sunday morning.
“It is unclear where he went after that. He was under the influence of alcohol at that time. Allan has not returned home following his night out, and has since failed to turn up for a number of appointments which he would have been expected to keep.”
He added: “We are aware of some messages being posted on social media as to possible locations or last sightings of Allan. However, we need to discuss these issues with the individuals posting the messages so we can properly assess their authenticity, and whether we need to focus our search in other areas.”
When last seen, Mr Bryant was dressed in a navy, white and grey striped T-shirt, dark jeans and grey leather shoes.
He is described as being 5ft 6”, of medium build with short brown hair and blue eyes and has tattoos on both arms.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
