The Voice star Stevie McCrorie declared his dream had come true as he celebrated his stupendous win on the hit BBC show.
The 30-year-old firefighter had been the bookies’ favourite to take the 2015 title and said the support for him had been amazing.
He was particularly taken aback by The Courier’s reports of Stevie sausages and cocktails as well as the backing of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Speaking from Tom Jones’s red chair just after the show finished, he told The Courier: “It feels like a dream at the moment.
“I’m just a normal guy and I just want to provide for my family.
“This is a dream come true.”
Stevie, who is a member of blue watch at Kirkcaldy fire station, is due back at work at the end of this week.
He joked they may have to wait a bit longer before they see him however, as he will be busy promoting his new single, Lost Stars.
“I hope the fire service will keep a job open for me,” he said.
“I think they’ll let me have a bit of time off!”
Commenting on The Courier’s coverage, he said: “It’s been absolutely amazing.
“I can’t believe the support I’ve had. Thank you so much.”
Stevie was joined by wife Amy, who had tears in her eyes as she said she was still in shock at the result.
“This is probably the happiest I’ve ever been about anything,” she said.
“He’s worked so hard for so long. It was like it couldn’t possibly happen and now it has.”
