The father of missing Glenrothes man Allan Bryant described the “living hell” his family are experiencing as around 200 people lit candles and sparklers to mark the first anniversary of his son’s disappearance.
A moving vigil was held on Sunday night outside the Styx nightclub where the 24-year-old was last seen in the early hours of November 3 2013.
Despite numerous public appeals, no trace of him has ever been found.
Police have said the search is one of the force’s largest-ever missing persons inquiries.
Allan Bryant Snr, who was joined by Allan’s mum Marie Degan and Allan’s sisters Amy and Sophie, described the past year as “every parent’s worst nightmare”.

Mr Bryant said: “As I look at everyone holding candles, it’s really heart-wrenching to see the support you are giving my family.
“The past year has been a living hell for us, day by day and night by night. We love and miss Allan so much.”
Chief Inspector Nicola Shepherd, who is leading the police investigation, said the focus, courage and resilience of the Bryant family has been “truly inspiring”.
