VIDEO: The Courier tries Jamie Scott’s winning menu from MasterChef: The Professionals

Rocca Restaurant in St Andrews has experienced a boom in bookings since head chef Jamie Scott won MasterChef: The Professionals.

The 27-year-old from Arbroath received huge acclaim from judges Marcus, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace for the food he served up in the final programme and his food has tempted diners from far and wide to St Andrews.

After a surge in bookings at Rocca following the broadcast, the decision was made to open the restaurant for lunch twice a week – the first time it has opened to serve lunch.

The menu includes three dishes inspired by his win on the hit cookery show.

For £25 customers can sample all three courses he inspired by his menu on the final round of MasterChef: The Professionals while a two-course option available for £19.95.

Jamie’s success might have meant more work for him and his kitchen staff but he said he is delighted by the response since he won MasterChef.

“It’s been absolutely amazing,” he said.

“There are so many people coming to try the menu.

“People were asking for the recipes and we always planned to put something on the menu but the response has been incredible.”

Jamie is also getting used to being recognised by viewers, while many diners who travel to St Andrews to eat at Rocca Restaurant are also keen to meet the MasterChef champion.

He said: “From London to Glasgow to St Andrews, people have been coming up to me and wishing me well,” he said.

“They’ve all been so nice.”

Susan Pieraccini, owner of Rocca, said: “The interest has been incredible.

“We had an idea about doing a menu inspired by MasterChef but had no idea it would be so popular.

“There’s not a lot going on in St Andrews in January but the buzz is just incredible.”

The Rocca kitchen is led by Davey Aspin, who has worked for some of the most iconic chefs in the country including Marco-Pierre White at The Oak Rooms and Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road.

Overlooking the world famous 18th fairway of the Old Course, Rocca was one of the few restaurants in the UK to earn three AA Rosettes in 2013/14.

Rocca is open for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays between 12.30pm and 2pm.
