A Perth takeaway boss has been told off by health chiefs for filming himself dressed as Batman while donating food to hardworking nurses.
Pete Chan has been giving health workers at Perth Royal Infirmary, police officers and ambulance staff unsold meals from his China China restaurant for eight years.
However, he recently took to dressing as the Caped Crusader to do so and posted a video of himself handing over food to a to a nurse at PRI on Facebook.
Thousands of fans have viewed the video but while Pete, who calls himself BatChan, was careful not to feature any patients, and even asked the permission of the nurses, NHS Tayside told the 42-year-old to take down the video.
Pete said: “BatChan and crew got a wee telling aff from NHS Tayside for filming in the hospital. It’s just the rules that you can’t film in there.
“I go to the hospital several times a week and I got this Batman costume and thought it would be a novelty. We are trying to raise the profile of BatChan to raise money for charity so we thought we’d film it.
“Thousands of people have viewed it but the fact it was in the hospital just crossed the line a wee bit.”
Pete has since posted a new video online explaining why the original BatChan donation film was removed.
He said: “I made a video last night as myself to prove there’s no sour grapes. And as a way of saying sorry I returned with food to the A&E last night.”
Despite having his knuckles rapped Pete has vowed to go on visiting the hospital, bringing along sidekick Rabin otherwise known as Derek Petterson for back up.
“I will definitely be continuing,” he said. “Derek has a big fancy convertible that we hope to use as the Batmobile.”
An NHS Tayside spokesman said, “Mr Chan did not have the correct permission to film inside the hospital. We have very strict guidelines in place to protect patient and staff confidentiality.”
