A Perth dad is to strip off as part of a fundraiser in memory of the daughter he lost to a deadly disease almost three years ago.
Alan Glynn will bare all almost to raise funds for the meningitis charities he has been tirelessly fundraising for since his toddler daughter Alexis Rose succumbed to the condition in February 2011.
She and her twin sister Christina had been struck down with a sickness bug in February 2011 but 19-month-old Alexis Rose died in her sleep after developing meningitis.
Now, Alan is to step on stage in a recreation of the hit 1997 Robert Carlyle film The Full Monty.
While the father-of four will only strip as far as his underwear, another group performing on the night will go all the way.
Alan has planned a night of entertainment, which will take place in the Loft Nightclub, Perth, on March 29. He said: “It will be all local people doing it and we will have Butler’s in the Buff, which are boys with their tops off.
“We will also have three sets of five strippers with three different themes: football, men with tools and fire brigade.
“The first two will get down to their briefs and the last one will go the full Monty. The fire group will be the ones to do the full Monty. We are working on getting singers and also a comedian.
“I think it will be great. The support I’ve had is outstanding.”
He added that while he was willing to strip naked, his decision to maintain some modesty was down to his fundraising commitments.
He said: “I will be taking part in one of the first waves. I’m brave enough to go all the way but I am also smart enough to know the better the line up at the end, the more people will give money.
“I’m confident but I think to myself: ‘I’ll be asking these people for help in the future’ I don’t want them to be walking in the opposite direction.”
Alan said that his fear of getting on stage was diminished by the ordeal his family has been through in the last few years.
“I’m not shy,” he said. “I’ll just get on with it but it’s even better because it’s for such a good cause.
“I was always going on stage I couldn’t organise it and not go on stage. I don’t know if I will do something cheeky, I’ll have to see.
“When you’ve been through what we’ve been through, stripping is the easy part.”
Alan and his wife Ruth have already raised tens of thousands of pounds for meningitis charities in memory of Alexis Rose.
Alexis Rose and her sister Christina had been born almost three months premature and at birth Alexis Rose weighed just 2lb 12oz. Christina did not develop meningitis and is now an active four year old. She and older brother Billy were later joined by baby sister Amber.
