A paedophile has been banned from having contact with children and an 80-year-old woman with whom he had a long-running extra-marital affair.
Edwin Kirk had an affair with the elderly woman for more than 25 years while sharing a home with her and her husband.
He has been told to keep away from the pensioner – who was described in court as “extremely open minded sexually” – after she said she was prepared to cover his tracks.
Details of the shocking relationship between the woman and “high risk” paedophile Kirk, who is 26 years her junior, were revealed at Perth Sheriff Court.
Police Scotland Chief Constable Sir Stephen House went to the court to seek a Sexual Offences Prevention Order against Kirk because of the danger he poses to the public.
Kirk, from Rannoch Road, Perth, was jailed earlier this year after he was discovered with a hoard of more than 100,000 indecent child images and days worth of video.
The extraordinary details of Kirk’s obsession with sex – ranging from children as young as three to his elderly lover – were put before the court by the chief constable.
The SOPO was granted and for the next 10 years Kirk is banned from having contact or communicating with children under 16, and from deleting his internet browser history.
He is also banned from deleting any record of phone calls or texts he has sent, and from using software to disguise his online search activity or remove it.
Kirk was jailed for 34 weeks earlier this year and Dundee Sheriff Court was told that he had started amassing over 100,000 child porn images a decade ago. He began downloading them shortly after being convicted of a similar offence in 2004.
