A search and rescue operation was under way on Sunday night for a 16-year-old boy, who police say got into difficulty while crossing the River Tay and disappeared from view.
The incident occurred near to the Woody Islands area at North Muirton, Perth. Emergency services were alerted at 7.20pm last night and five fire appliances, police and a search and rescue helicopter from Lossiemouth attended the scene.
It is thought the missing boy was at the Rewind Festival in the grounds of Scone Palace before attempting to cross the river. Police diving teams searched the water and two police officers were stationed on Queen’s Bridge watching the river.
Music fans at the festival could see the search and rescue helicopter flying up and down the River Tay well into the night.
