A horrific crash on the outskirts of Perth has claimed the life of a second teenager.
Megan Black had spent almost a week in a critical condition at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, but died on Saturday evening.
Family members had been hopeful that the 17-year-old was showing signs of recovery, only to face heartbreak when she succumbed to her injuries.
Megan had been in a car with fellow teen Jamie Scott, who was killed instantly when the vehicle left the M90 on the outskirts of Perth.
The black Ford Fiesta lost control and careered down an embankment, near the Craigend junction at around 10.45pm on April 15.
Megan and another occupant a 19-year-old man, who remains in a serious but stable condition were cut free and rushed to hospital.
Despite appearing to respond well to treatment, with family and friends posting positive messages on social media, her condition deteriorated and she eventually lost her fight for life.
Megan, an art and design student at Perth College UHI and former pupil of St John’s Academy, leaves behind parents Ian and Kim and little sister Kaytie, who were yesterday too upset to comment on their loss.
Friends of the teenager, who was a talented artist and specialised in animal portraits, have described her as an “amazing girl” and have taken to Facebook and Twitter to pay tribute to her.
Former teacher Chris Jordan said: “I have had the privilege to teach this amazing young lady who had her whole life and an amazing career ahead of her.
“She inspired me with her amazing passion for dance and was a breath of fresh air whenever she was in my dance class.
“I am devastated. My thoughts are with family and friends.”
Meanwhile, her best friend Megan Darlington, who is described as being her sister on Facebook, wrote: “Some things are just too hard to believe, heaven has received an angel, but she’s gonna be dearly missed by her family and friends. Love you hot shot.”
Last week, tributes were paid to Jamie, who died at the scene of the single-vehicle accident.
The 19-year-old, who was a former Perth Academy pupil and worked at Alan Storrar Cars as a valeter, was described as a “lovely boy”.
A police spokesman confirmed that the third occupant of the car remains “critically ill” in hospital.
“We are continuing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident. We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed it to contact us by calling 101.”
