Who were the mystery spokes-men who crashed the women-only Macmillan Cycletta Scotland?

Organisers of a women-only cycling event thought spectators were yanking their chain when they claimed to have spotted men among the participants.
Inspection of photos taken at the Macmillan Cycletta Scotland event, which took place at Scone Palace in July, reveals three rather sheepish looking ‘middle-aged men in Lycra’ in the field.
The trio were caught on camera by a bystander at the start line of the 100km distance and managed to spin past organisers to take part in the event, which was launched in 2011 to get more women taking part in the sport.
Now in its fourth year, the growth of the Macmillan Cycletta series reflects an influx of women into the sport, with more than 10,000 taking part in a cycling event in the UK.
The addition of men taking part in the event was unexpected, and organisers are keen to track them down.
Spokeswoman Gillian Daly said: “We’d love to know what motivated them to take part, and we’d really like them to get in touch with us.”
