The family of Voice star Stevie McCrorie believe he could go “all the way” in the TV talent competition.
In an exclusive interview at the family home in Alva, Clackmannanshire, Stevie’s mum Sandra, 57, father Michael, 59, brother Paul, 33 and sister Nadia, 28, told The Courier of their excitement at his progress in the BBC TV singing contest.
And it was a particularly special evening for the family of the Kirkcaldy firefighter as The Courier presented them with a bundle of our “Support Stevie” posters, which have been given away free this week.
Sandra said: “I’ve been trying to get hold of one of these posters for a couple of days but I couldn’t get one for love nor money.
“It’s great that The Courier has done this and is getting behind our boy. I plan to put these posters up everywhere.””Smash it bro!” Stevie’s firefighter colleagues wish him good luckSandra said the last few months had been “surreal” as her son became a household name. He was recently out for a jog and women were screaming at him in the street, she revealed.
She said her son had come a long way since his older brother Paul bought him his first guitar at the age of 14.
She said: “Paul and his other brother Michael joined the Royal Engineers. They were driving around one day and Stevie started singing along to a Stereophonics track.
“Paul stopped the car and said ‘you’ve got a really good voice’. He bought him a guitar later that day they called it the ‘Old Yellow’ because it was yellow and he threw himself into music from there.”
And Paul, who will be in London for the live semi-finals on Saturday night, added: “In my eyes he’s still a wee boy when he steps on to that stage. My wee brother.
“But he can win this. Whatever happens he’s done amazingly well. We are all behind him.”
