Dundee United’s ability to produce top young players over the years has been showcased at the new GA Engineering Arena.
Rooms the new £300,000-plus facility at the former Gussie Park have each been given names to pay homage to stars of the past with Christian Dailly, Duncan Ferguson, Johnny Russell and Ryan Gauld among those honoured.
At today’s official opening, which was kicked off by GA Engineering managing director Gordon Deuchars scoring a penalty kick, club chairman Stephen Thompson spoke of how the development of players at the home of the youth academy and community hub is crucial to the Tangerines’ future.

“Today marks the end of a project which has witnessed the club working in tandem with ArabTRUST, the Federation of Dundee United Supporters’ Clubs and Dundee United Business Club as well as the greater United fan base to provide the funding for the state-of-the-art surface.”
Mr Deuchars added: “I am a strong believer in improving sporting facilities for young people and the local community so I am delighted to oversee the opening of the renovated complex and provide the naming rights on behalf of GA Engineering.
“This facility will not only benefit Dundee United’s incredible youth academy but also benefit the local community, including many school children, local clubs and societies in the area.”
