Partick Thistle 2 Dundee United 2: Tangerines unable to make most of early lead
ByIan Roache
Dundee United couldn’t quite reproduce their Dundee derby heroics as they left Firhill with just a point.
After the historic high of last Thursday’s 6-2 win over their city rivals, the Tangerines came up against a Thistle side that stung them with a brilliant first-half fightback after Gary Mackay-Steven had given the visitors an early lead.
Goals from Ryan Stevenson and Kris Doolan made it 2-1 to the Jags at the break and it took a fine finish from Nadir Ciftci to grab a draw for United in 73 minutes.
They could have snatched victory in the closing stages but instead an entertaining match ended all-square.
The result meant they slipped down to fourth spot, with Hamilton Accies moving ahead of them by a point thanks to their victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
