Dundee United striker Robbie Muirhead has missed out on the UEFA goal of the season award to Lionel Messi.

Muirhead’s strike for Scotland under-19s against Norway came ninth in the online poll.

Messi’s goal for Barcelona in the Champions’ League semi-final against Bayern Munich came top with 39% of the vote.

Cristiano Ronaldo finished second in the poll with his effort against Liverpool while Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey came third with his Champions League volley against Turkish side Galatasaray.
