Canada call-up for Arbroath loan man Dylan Carreiro
ByThe Courier Reporter
Arbroath will be without on-loan Dundee midfielder Dylan Carreiro against Montrose in the Scottish Cup this weekend after the 19-year-old received a call-up to join Canada’s senior squad.
Former Queen’s Park Rangers player Carreiro joined the Red Lichties on a 93-day loan earlier this month and has started their recent games against Clyde and Elgin.
However, he will be missing this Saturday as he is attending a training camp in Mexico.
Gayfield assistant manager Todd Lumsden is delighted for Carreiro especially as his absence will not alter the Red Lichties’ plans for meeting their Angus rivals as they did not think that Dundee would allow Carreiro to become cup-tied.
Lumsden said: “I am delighted for Dylan to be recognised by his country and for Arbroath to have a player in a full international squad even if he is an on-loan one.
“We had not asked Dundee for permission for Dylan to play in the cup and it looks like we will not need to.”
