St Johnstone face stadium switch for Europa League tie in Armenia
ByEric Nicolson
St Johnstone could be playing in front of a near empty stadium when they face Armenian minnows Alashkert next week.
It emerged that the tie is being moved to the 14,500-capacity Republican Stadium in the capital, Yerevan.
The prospect of a 6000-mile round trip has counted out many Perth fans from making the journey to back their side.
And the attendance in a country where the national sport is chess could be around the 500 to 600 mark.
The match will kick off at 7pm local time, which should provide some respite from the near 40 degree heat Tommy Wright’s men are bracing themselves for on Thursday.
