Walker fights off attacker who tried to steal his dog

Police in Cowdenbeath have appealed for witnesses after a dog walker was the subject of an unusual and unprovoked attack on Friday night.
The incident happened at the junction of Moss Side Road and Woodside at around 9.30pm, when a man described by police as of “black Afro-Caribbean appearance” approached the male dog walker and started talking to him.
He then assaulted the man before trying to steal his dog, although the owner managed to keep hold of his pet before his attacker ran off in the direction of Woodside.
The victim is not thought to have suffered serious injuries but was badly shaken.
Police are keen to track down the man responsible for the attack, described as being 5ft 7in and of medium build. He was said to be wearing a white baseball cap, black tracksuit top and grey tracksuit bottoms.
