The success of European golfers could provide a jobs boost to Dundee as a major retailer eyes a move to the city.
American Golf is looking at opening in Dundee, claiming the recent dominance of European players on the professional circuit is bolstering interest in the sport.
The chain, which already has 10 outlets in Scotland, is looking to increase its east coast presence and sees Dundee as the ideal place to set up shop.
Chief executive of American Golf, Nick Wood, said, “We are looking at places like Livingston and Dundee where we are not represented.
“European players, such as our own Lee Westwood and Luke Donald, have risen to the pinnacle of the world game over the last two years following the dominance of US golfers like Tiger Woods.
“Their success is fuelling domestic interest in the sport and having a positive effect on the UK golf equipment market.”
