This is the face of the man who may be Jack the Ripper, according to research involving Dundee University.
Forensic anthropologist Dr Xanthe Mallett appeared on BBC One’s show National Treasures on Wednesday to interview Trevor Marriott, a former murder squad detective and an expert on the killings.
He believes Carl Feigenbaum, a German merchant who was in London at the time of the five murders in 1888, is the prime suspect.
There are no photographs of Feigenbaum, but Dr Mallett studied an e-fit of him by Marriott based on a description of him when he was sent to prison in America.
Convicted of murdering his landlady in Manhattan, Feigenbaum died in the electric chair in New York’s Sing Sing prison in 1894. His lawyer suspected him of the Ripper murders too.
Dr Mallett said it was fascinating to study documents from the original investigation.
