Vandals have caused £100,000 of damage at a Fife farmhouse in an ‘unprecedented’ bout of destruction.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the attack at the unoccupied Newton Farm, near Lochgelly.
The vandals struck some time between 11am on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday.
Detective Inspector Michelle Johnson, who is leading the investigation, said, “The vandalism committed is unprecedented in my police experience. The perpetrators damaged the building internally and also damaged roof tiles and stole loft insulation.
“The cost of repair is estimated in the region of £100,000. A witness who saw youths running away from the property, around 6pm on Sunday night, described a group of six or seven teenage boys making off toward South Street, Lochgelly.”
Anyone with any information should call police on 0845 600 5702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
