Trialists await verdict on possible Dundee futures

Dundee boss Gordon Chisholm will deliver his verdict on the crop of trialists vying for a contract at the club early this week.

Former Celtic man Nicky Riley, ex-St Johnstone full-back Gary Irvine, defender Scott Buist and one-time Dundee United midfielder Stephen O’Donnell, as well as several other unnamed players, have been training with the Dark Blues as they gear up for another tilt at promotion to the SPL.

Chisholm ran the rule over the hopefuls again during a closed-doors game with Alex Rae’s MK Dons at the weekend which, finished 0-0.

Now, the Dens Park gaffer is set to let the players know who has done enough to merit a deal at the club.

“The game was a competitive, worthwhile exercise and gave me an ideal opportunity to look at the trialists,” he said.

“The lads are all desperate to know what is happening so I will be speaking to them this week.”
