Robert Pennycook, the last manager of the Ritz Cinema in Dundee, has died at the age of 88.
The Pennycook family owned a number of cinemas in Dundee including the State, which is now the Whitehall Theatre, the Royalty in Baffin Street, the Cinemarain in South Tay Street and the Ritz in Morgan Street.
He was born and raised in Dundee, where he attended Glebelands Primary School and Stobswell Secondary.
After leaving school, he helped his family run their cinemas.
He joined the RAF during the second world war and served in Egypt and Canada.
Upon his return to civilian life, he became manager of the Ritz until it closed in 1959.
Mr Pennycook then worked at NCR before becoming warehouse manager with William Low, where he worked until his retirement.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his daughter Pamela and granddaughters Lee and Perii.
