Falkirk bus builder Alexander Dennis is set to establish a new chassis assembly facility in Canada after receiving a multi-million-pound order from Ontario’s Crown transport agency Metrolink.
The deal, which isunderstood to be worth £300 million, will see the Scottish firm supply 253 double-decker buses to Metrolink’s Go Transit arm over a five-year period from 2016.
An option for Metrolink to purchase a further 150 buses has also been woven into the agreement, the financial details of which have not been disclosed.
Chief executive Colin Robertson said: “This initiative is the result of a seven-year business relationship with Metrolinx that has gone from strength to strength.
“It involves a multi-year, exclusive agreement for the supply of double-deck buses and marks a milestone for ADL.”
