What’s in a Name? new book tells story of Broughty Ferry’s streets
ByThe Courier Reporter
The history of Broughty Ferry place names is the subject of a new book which was presented to Dundee Lord Provost Bob Duncan.
What’s in a Name? by Callum Webster reveals the stories behind every street name in Broughty Ferry and looks at old mansions, schools, churches, pubs, and shops.
Callum hails from Broughty Ferry but moved to Belfast to work 15 years ago.
He began tracing local history as a hobby to keep up links with home and the book is the culmination of his research.
Fellow Broughty Ferry residents co-author Craig Muir and cover artist Margaret Young also contributed towards the book.
Craig carried out all the design work and gathered the vintage photographs and illustrations while Margaret painted the cover picture of Broughty Castle.
The book is on sale in selected Ferry shops.
