A tiny kitten bought as a replacement to the world’s most famous mouser has been killed at just six months of age. Peat, the Glenturret Distillery cat, was found injured at the side of the road and despite a desperate battle vets were unable to save him. The feline was the official mouser at the site, following in the pawprints of the famous Towser. Lesley Williamson, business development manager of the Famous Grouse Experience, paid tribute to Peat. She said: “The Glenturret Distillery team are heartbroken … He was inquisitive, fearless and a social cat and we will all miss him terribly.” Between 1963 and 1987, Towser caught more than 28,000 mice and earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
