Montrose have opened discussions with former Dundee striker Leighton McIntosh, after Brechin City ended their interest.
The 21-year-old has been without a club since being released by the Dens Park club at the end of last season and Links Park boss George Shields is keen to get the striker on board.
McIntosh was a promising youngster at the Dark Blues but he drifted out of things and spent time on loan at Montrose and Arbroath as he tried to get his career going again.
Shields said: “As soon as I heard that Leighton was not going to join Brechin, I started making moves to bring him here.
“Leighton still has great potential and we remember how well he did here where he played up front with Martin Boyle.”
