Ryan Gauld’s Sporting Lisbon career is starting to gain momentum, after the former Dundee United star made his first league appearance on Sunday night.
Gauld was a 65th minute substitute in the 4-2 home win against Rio Ave.
A few days earlier, the Scotland under-21 international was the man of the match in a cup victory for Sporting.
Gauld played a part in one of the weekend goals, linking up with former Manchester United man, Nani.
Sporting are third in the Primeira Liga, 10 points adrift of leaders’ Porto.
The teenager’s first team break hasn’t come in time for him to feature in the Champions League, as Sporting were knocked out at the group stage.
They are now involved in the Europa League though, and have a last-32 clash with Wolfsburg on the horizon.
