A stalker who travelled around the world to present his victim with a peanut in a jewellery box will return to court next week as he battles to clear his name.
Jeronimo Bouceiro was found guilty of engaging in an 11-month campaign at the end of one of Perth Sheriff Court’s longest and most expensive trials.
Last year, the 41-year-old took his case to the Court of Criminal Appeals in Edinburgh and won the right to challenge his conviction and sentence, which included a 10-year non-harassment order banning him from going near his victim, police officer Gillian Farnington.
Bouceiro will go back before appeal judges next week to make changes to the grounds of his case.
The hearing is scheduled for Friday January 30.
During his trial, which is believed to have cost taxpayers around £50,000, the court heard that he repeatedly texted, emailed, called and wrote to Ms Farnington, stating that he was in love with her.
He carried out surveillance to find out where she was staying and even followed her on holiday to Turkey.
At the end of his trial, the Portuguese national treated the court to a bizarre rendition of the song My Way, popularised by Frank Sinatra.
