Man was high on drugs when attacking police in Perth

A man who injured two police officers following a disturbance at a Perth betting shop has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Michael Doran lashed out in response to attempts by PCs Louise Murray and Stephen Livesey to arrest him.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that Doran was high on a cocktail of cocaine and valium at the time.
Depute fiscal Stuart Richardson said the officers had taken Doran out into the street. After talking to witnesses, they decided to arrest him but he lashed out, forcing them to use CS spray to subdue him.
The assault left one of the police officers with a swollen face and the other suffered bruising on the arm.
Doran’s solicitor, Pauline Cullerton, said he had taken drugs prior to the incident in the betting shop.
Doran, 24, of Lintabbert Terrace, Muthil, had earlier admitted assaulting PC Murray by punching her in the face and PC Livesey by punching and butting him in the face.
The assaults took place on Perth’s South Street on March 23 last year.
Sheriff William Wood ordered Doran to carry out 210 hours of unpaid work.
