Lorry jack-knifes in “curling rink” conditions near Stonehaven
ByRob McLaren
Northbound commuters were affected by a jack-knifed lorry near Stonehaven this morning.
The lorry closed the A957 Banchory to Stonehaven road after it jack-knifed just before 7am. The road reopened at 11am.
Meanwhile the southbound outside lane of the main A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road was described by one motorist as like a “curling rink”.
Aberdeenshire Council’s head of roads, Phillip McKay, said overnight rain had caused a “refreezing” of already treated surfaces.
Mr McKay added: “Due to the prevailing conditions treatments levels were increased this morning for that originally planned.
“The council’s road service continues to monitor the weather forecast and is responding to concerns reported to them by members of the public.
“As always at this time of year, I would ask motorist to drive in accordance with the prevailing road, and weather conditions, and plan their journey in advance.”
