A9 average speed camera figures expected next week

Full details of how the A9’s contentious average speed camera system has performed since it was installed last year will be posted online in the coming days.
Transport Scotland has confirmed that a full package of stats and figures relating to the so-called “yellow vultures” will be posted on the A9 Safety Group’s website some time next week.
The roads authority said it would be submitting details on the cameras’ “performance” including journey times, feedback from hauliers while Police Scotland will unveil how many speeding incidents, fines and accidents have been raised.
The details were due to be released this week, following a Freedom of Information request, but were delayed for a last minute assessment.
Transport minister Derek Mackay said: “While we are committed to monitoring their effectiveness, there would be little point in presenting data which doesn’t cover a decent period of time so that some credible conclusions can at least be drawn.”
