Police in Fife are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Buckhaven on Saturday morning.
The incident happened around 1.15am in Lawrence Street.
Following a disturbance outside an address a 33-year-old sustained a serious head injury.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and anyone who can assist officers with their investigation is asked to come forward.
Detective Inspector Colin Robson said: “Our early inquiries have revealed that there was an disturbance in the street in the early hours of the morning.
“We’re carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area to try to find out more information from local residents and have extra officers dedicated to investigating the incident.
“As such, we have increased high visibility patrols in the area and would urge anyone who can assist with our investigation to contact police immediately.”
