A man will appear at Perth Sheriff Court today in connection with a suspicious death in Bridge of Earn.
The 56-year-old was arrested on Friday after a 27-year-old woman was found dead.
It is understood police are treating the case as murder.
Police were called to an address in Horsemill Place, in the Muirmont area, at around 1.30pm on Friday.
Councillor Henry Anderson, who lives near the scene, said the community was beginning to come to terms with the tragedy.
He said: “Initially everyone was shocked but I think they are getting their head round it now.
“It’s quite sad that it’s happened in a quiet wee village. The rest of Muirmont, and I live right in the middle of it, doesn’t know much about the people who live in that street.”
His colleague Alan Jack added: “It’s a tragedy. Bridge of Earn is a growing and vibrant village with a nice community and this sort of thing doesn’t do us any good.”
A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that a 56-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 27-year-old woman in the Bridge of Earn area on Friday.
