Missing Jon Edwards: Family in the dark on Arbroath chef’s whereabouts

Jon Edwards went missing in Portugal in September.

An Arbroath family are still waiting for news about their son who disappeared in Portugal more than four months ago.

Jon Anderson Edwards, 31, went missing without a trace in Lagos where he had been working as a chef on September 15, just days after falling over and hitting his head.

His mother Lesley Edwards said one shred of information could be vital in helping to find her son.

She said: “There’s somebody out there who knows something but they just haven’t been found yet.

“It takes one person to come forward and say something which will help find him but at the moment, I haven’t heard a thing from either Tayside Police or the police over in Portugal.”

Lesley was last updated by liaison officers on Christmas Eve, only to say no updates were available.

The investigation increased in November after a hoax email was sent to the family saying her son would be executed unless they gave his kidnappers £6,000.

It was believed there was no truth in the matter but regional and international police initially took the allegations very seriously.

Lesley said: “More people were brought in for questioning in Portugal and at home.

“Police interviewed a lot of Jon’s friends after that email but still nothing has come up.”
