Pedestrian fights for life after accident on A92 at Glenrothes

A young pedestrian is understood to have been left fighting for their life following a collision with a car in Glenrothes earlier on Tuesday evening.

The serious accident took place at the height of the evening rush hour, just south of the Balfarg junction on the A92.

The road was closed for several hours as ambulance crews treated the casualty before removing them to hospital under a police escort.

Police have released few details about the casualty, but their injuries are understood to be life threatening.

The incident brought severe delays to what is one of Fife’s busiest roads, with traffic diverted via Western Avenue and Cadham Road in Glenrothes.

A police investigation team was at the scene throughout the evening trying to determine the circumstances of the collision.
